Karibu and welcome!

front-pageKenya Association of the Intellectually Handicapped, or KAIH, is a members-based organization of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Together we work to advance the economic, social and political rights of those with intelllectual disabilities. We believe in empowerment and provide strategies to help people with intellectual disabilities access support and advocate on their own behalf.

Out of Kenya's population of nearly 40 million it is estimated that 3% are persons with intellectual disability. Intellectual disability is still subject to serious stigma and misunderstanding in Kenya and KAIH's work is vital in ensuring that 1.3 million people can fight discrimination and lead full lives.
