| Our Approach |
|
Kenya Association of the Intellectually Handicapped has developed a unique approach to acceptance of disabilities within the society First, we seek to educate and train parents on their child’s disability so that the person is accepted within the family. Secondly, we teach the PWID about their human rights so that they can become a self-advocate who can used a rights based approach to access basic services in their daily lives. Finally, we work to educate the community about disabilities to reduce stigmatization and foster social acceptance. We believe that these three pillars are essential to ensuring the inclusion of PWID’s and their families within Kenyan society. |
